Always to the point and upfront, we have to say that it has been rather a frustrating time of late for us. We have found that certain people within organisations choose to either completely ignore us, or simply lead us on into assisting us with some of the causes we are fighting for, then they do nothing. To put it simply, they don’t care.
That aside, we remain positive, so let’s continue with pro-active good news. Despite our extremely limited funds and resources we have managed to make our first CHARITY DONATION. ‘The Mountain Way’ (Charity Reg. No 1171751) is a military charity that aims to conquer PTSD, founded and run by former Royal Marines Officer, Andy Shaw.
It is difficult for us to operate on a UK nationwide scale, but we do so, albeit slowly, given our limited resources and at present as volunteers. Incredibly we can now say that we have gone international as we have obtained the artefacts of a British soldier, with an amazing story. We are making efforts to repatriate these artefacts to Spain, where he is buried, being the ONLY British soldier who was killed by enemy action during WW1 to be actually interred in the whole of Spain. Please see VICTOR EARL page on this website for more details.
PICTURED ABOVE – Ever keen to oblige – Major Smith at the invitation of Bolton Council with a wreath from our Foundation to honour Alice Thomasson at the unveiling of her statue. Pictured alongside are two members of Alice’s family unveiling the statue to Alice, the only female serving member of the British Army from Bolton to be killed on active service during WW1.
Finally, it is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Heather Short. Heather was our greatest supporter and acted as a Custodian and Ambassador for the James Garnett Foundation. A very special lady whose deep sense of compassion touched us all. REST IN PEACE Heather, we shall never forget you.
